Community Club
     Friendship Village School Community Club/PTO

Executive Board: Co Presidents Wanda Benner and Cynthia Weiss, Treasurer Lori Barter, and Secretary Stacy Simmons

Mission Statement: to provide support to both the children and the teachers of FVS through special programs organized and carried out by parents and residents of Friendship. This is done by raising money, and fostering community and school relations.

Friendship Community Club Calendars: This is a Scholarship fund for graduating seniors from Friendship who wish to continue their education. The calendar begins with the month of April and includes birthdays, anniversaries, community meetings, and events. Order forms are on the back of the November page of the current calendar. This years’ calendar will be available at FVS, the town office, or can be mailed for a postage fee. Calendars have to be preordered and paid for in advance, we can no longer do COD. We thank everyone for their understanding and continuing support during these difficult economic times.

15th Annual Holiday Craft Fair was held November 29th in FVS gym. Famous lobster rolls were served, crafts made by FVS kids were sold, and there was a visit from Santa. Thanks to all the volunteers and vendors!

Supporting our kids: This year, we made a special welcome gift to parents of kindergarten students starting out at FVS. We also held a welcome back cookout/potluck dinner for all to attend. Before the Craft Fair we held after school sessions for kids to make crafts to be be sold at the craft fair. We will be holding a family game night during the winter. A Winter Carnival and/or Spirit Week are being discussed.  We will be providing our graduating 6th grade class with a parting gift and class party. Last, we hope to have a cookout during field day at the close of school.

Supporting our teachers: A list is posted for all to see where teachers can write the things each class is lacking that school funds cannot provide. It will be easier this way for gently used and new items to be donated. Also at the start of school a “teacher wish list” was given to each teacher, asking what they might like that the PTO could help provide. This list provides an overview of what, when, how much needs to be accomplished to get those wishes done. The Scholastic Book Fair provided books for each class as well as for the school library. The Northern Stars Planetarium will be returning to the school as well as Children’s Stage Adventures this year. For these and other requests, we will keep on with the fundraising!!
