The Science Department at Medomak Valley High School is committed to providing the best science education for all of its students. Our experienced staff is dedicated to establishing a sound foundation of earth, life and physical science to the students of district 40.

We offer a broad range of courses to prepare students for any future career path. Click below to see descriptions of these courses.

Course Descriptions

AP Biology students performing titrations for the "Enzyme" Lab. AP Biology is a college level course offered to seniors.

Physics students pile weights onto a truss constructed from balsa wood in the annual Truss Competition.

Mr. Lash demonstrating CPR techniques to one of his Anatomy classes. "Hey, which one is the dummy?"

Students get charged up in chemistry

Chemistry students burning 'Cheetos' in the Calorimeters they designed and constructed. (Several students dropped from the toxic Cheeto smoke).

Physics students in the annual Egg Drop Competition (students construct a small, lightweight, capsule that can protect an egg from cracking when dropped from 14 feet).

Meet the Science Department Mascot

A very big THANK YOU to Hannaford in Rockland for donating 18 gallons of distilled water for our science labs. Distilled water lacks impurities that could compromise experimental results and Hannaford believes the students of MSAD 40 deserve the best.
