Executive Board:

Co-Presidents:   Brooke Simmons and Heather Simmons

Treasurer:  Rebecca Gahagan

Secretary:  Rhonda Havener

Mission Statement:  To provide support to both the children and the teachers of FVS through special programs organized and carried out by parents and residents of Friendship.  This is done by raising money, as well as fostering community and school relations.

Friendship Community Calendars:  This is a scholarship fund for graduating seniors from Friendship who wish to continue their education.  The calendar begins with the month of April and includes birthdays, anniversaries, community meetings, and events.  Order forms are on the back of the current calendar.  This year’s calendar will be available at FVS, Town Hall, or can be mailed for a postage fee.  Calendars have to be preordered and paid for in advance, we can no longer do COD.  We thank everyone for their understanding and continuing support during these difficult economic times.

The 18th Annual Holiday Craft Fair will be held in November in the FVS gym.  In the past the student-made crafts were sold, and delicious lobster rolls were served.  This year it will be run by a committee headed up by Beth Simmons and Donna Jameson.  Please contact them with any questions.

Supporting our kids:  This means doing activities for and with the children of FVS.  In the past we’ve done cookouts to welcome students back, or to send them on their way to summer vacation.   We sponsored a parent-transported afternoon of bowling on one of our early release days, and had a fun-filled Spirit Week.  Sixth grade students have been given a parting gift and class party at the end of the school year.

Supporting our teachers:   At times school funds cannot provide all that our teachers need.  A list will be posted for teachers to write in such items.  This makes it easier for gently used and new items to be donated.  A “teacher wish list” will also be given to each teacher, asking what they might like that the PTO can provide.  This list will provide an overview of what, when, and how much needs to be accomplished to get those wishes done.  The Scholastic Book Fair provides books for each class, as well as the school library.  For these and other requests, we will keep on with the fundraising!
